On the latest Worldwide development conference (WWDC) 2016, Apple announced latest updates for its various operating systems. Apple unveiled iOS 10 which is the latest iteration of its mobile software.
iOS 10 which is claimed to be the biggest iOS release ever comes with 10 major new features. It will be available as a free software update in September 2016 iPhone 7, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPod touch sixth-generation onwards.
Messages is the most important part of this new upgrade. Apple is adding animations like balloons, confetti or fireworks that can take over an entire screen. Also, iOS 10 will automatically suggest Emoji’s that can replace a particular word in a message. There will be a new subscription feature in the Apple News app.
iOS 10 will feature a completely redesigned lock screen and notification system. Lock screen has become more interactive with richer notifications . Moreover, users will now be able to access more features from the notifications itself.
The Music app has been completely redesigned which now brings a much simpler design that is easier to navigate and use. Apple Maps will now be able to check the calendar for places you’re meant to be going and will have a better search option. Home-kit will now be able to manage a range of home gadgets. iOS 10 has a better 3D touch integration.
A new feature Memories, will scan photos and videos and finds forgotten events and puts them in all in one collection. There’s also the Memory Movie, which is an automatically edited movie with theme music, titles and cinematic transitions.
Siri will now be available to third party developers and it has now become much smarter. This includes writing your messages, doing image searches and transcribing voicemails. The new ‘Raise to Wake’ function automatically wakes the screen as you raise your iPhone.
